From the brewery:
"Fruh Kolsch is brewed at the Cölner Hofbräu Früh brewery, which was founded by Peter Joseph Früh in 1904. From its conception to this day, it is brewed under the Reinheitsgebot, or German Purity Law, showing its flawless approach to competing with the best German beers around. In order to brew kolsch, you must adhere to one simple rule, you must brew in Cologne. This is in accordance to the Kölsch Konvention of 1986, which states kolsch cannot be brewed outside of the state.
Whilst plenty of other brewers across the world produce kolsch style beer, they cannot call it such, making it a style that is very much in demand. Kolsch beer is warm fermented to close to 20°C before lagering in cooler temperatures. Fruh Kolsch, in particular, is a top fermented beer and is light gold in colour. This refreshing beer provides the lucky individual with a crisp hoppy finish and a substantial carbonation leading to a good lasting head. The exportation of Fruh is increasing to meet demand and it is easy to see why when such high quality ingredients, mixed with a reputation for its style protected by law, equals one of our best-selling beers."
